Alexandra R. Nicolaides, PhD
Biography
Born in New York City, I was raised in London, Brussels and Berlin, before moving back to the city twenty years ago. I have lived in Harlem for over a decade and currently teach at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. I previously worked as an Educator at the Brooklyn Museum, teaching family programs, and as an Associate to the Director for an international contemporary art collection, assisting projects across the United States and around the world, including Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi. I have written for Artcritical, The Brooklyn Rail, BOMB Magazine, and kritische berichte.
A teaching art historian, I’m interested in helping people to understand and learn from art and culture in their everyday life.
I have experience making a diverse array of subjects across art engaging and accessible to different types of learners and to be responsive to individual needs.
